Why I Almost Walked Away from Boudoir — And Why I’m More On Fire Than Ever

There was a moment not too long ago when I honestly thought I might never return to boudoir photography.
After having to step away for my health, I had a lot of time to think. Maybe too much.
And the truth is, I started wondering if I was really making a difference with my art at all.
I kept asking myself hard questions:
Was I just another photographer in an oversaturated market?
Was boudoir really empowering — or was it just feeding into the same old male gaze?
Was my work even necessary anymore?
The doubts were loud. And for a while, they almost won.
I told myself, Maybe it’s time to close the chapter. Maybe it’s time to move on.
But something deeper was stirring under all that fear.
Because when I thought about the women and people I had worked with — the ones who left the studio standing a little taller, who cried happy tears seeing themselves through a new lens, who told me it wasn’t “just pictures” but something they had needed for years — I realized:
Boudoir, when done with intention, is revolutionary.
And the world needs more of that — not less.
Boudoir Isn’t About the Male Gaze. It’s About Taking It Back.
The problem was never boudoir itself.
The problem was how mainstream culture twisted it into something performative, something meant for others instead of for ourselves.
But that’s not what I’m here to create.
And that’s not what my clients come here to experience.
At Coquette Boudoir, boudoir is about reclaiming every piece of yourself that the world told you was “too much” or “not enough.”
It’s about celebrating your power, your softness, your fire, your radiance — without apology, without permission, without anyone else’s gaze defining it.
It’s about stepping into a space where you are the muse, the mirror, and the masterpiece all at once.
The Market Is “Saturated” — But No One Else Can Do
This
Yes, there are a lot of boudoir photographers out there.
But here’s what I’ve learned:
The market isn’t saturated with you.
Nobody else has your exact voice, your exact perspective, your exact magic.
And no one else has the heart, the lived experience, the artistry that I bring into every single session.
I’m not here to be “better” than anyone else. I’m here to be different — because authenticity always stands out.
I’m here for the ones who don’t always feel seen. For the ones who want more than just “sexy photos.”
For the ones who want an experience that reminds them who they are.
I’m Back — And I’m Just Getting Started.
Taking that time away wasn’t the end of the story. It was the beginning of a new one.
Now, I’m back — and more on fire than ever.
More committed to creating an experience that’s inclusive, affirming, celebratory, and deeply empowering.
More inspired to help every client see themselves through a lens of softness, power, and truth.
More determined to make Coquette Boudoir a place where you don’t have to shrink, perform, or be anyone but your most radiant self.
If you’re feeling the pull to see yourself in a new light — or maybe, for the first time ever — my studio door is open.
And I promise: you will leave with so much more than just beautiful photos.
You’ll leave with yourself, fully seen.
